35 years in automotive quality, built into an app.
I've spent 35 years in quality, Six Sigma, and Lean within automotive manufacturing — the kind of environment where a process capability number isn't an academic exercise, it's the difference between a line that keeps running and one that doesn't. I've calculated Cpk more times than I could count: on shop floors, in reviews, under time pressure, with whatever tool happened to be at hand at the time.
Despite — or maybe because of — that experience, I kept hitting the same frustration: getting a quick, trustworthy capability assessment on the spot, standing at a machine, was still harder than it had any right to be. Spreadsheets weren't built for a phone in your hand. Dedicated software lived on a desktop somewhere else, if it existed at all.
The statistics themselves haven't changed in decades. What was missing was getting from a handful of readings to a reliable answer, quickly, using the device already in every quality engineer's pocket.
So I built the tool I wished I'd had. Readings can be captured by typing, speaking, scanning a photo, or reading live straight off a machine's display. Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk are calculated correctly and kept properly distinct — a lot of tools blur that line. And every number comes with a plain-language explanation of what it actually means, because a result you don't understand isn't much use to you.
It's built to be genuinely useful to a rookie engineer still learning the ropes, and fast enough for someone who's run this calculation ten thousand times. Everything runs entirely on your own device — nothing you enter ever leaves your phone, which matters in a manufacturing environment as much as it does anywhere else.
